Front of the helmet hangs the night vision device, which clearly pulls forward and down. If you want to compensate for this, you can attach a counterweight to the back of the helmet: This is the Night Vision Goggle Counterweight System for MICH and other Tactical Helmets - manufactured by Vel-Tye, currently used by Naval Special Warfare Group 2 and Seal Team 10.
Here is the adhesive side of the Velcro strip with which the counterweight is attached to the helmet: A regular Velcro secures the pouch with the small lead weight at the back of the operational or training helmet.
This counterweight is made by Vel-Tye, a Special Warfare Equipment manufacturer from Virginia, USA, known for the Hugger Plate Carrier. Coyote Tan Cordura & Coyote Tan Mesh are the materials used here, but the Conterweight is also available in Black and Foliage. The Velcro can be cut to fit the pouch with lead on any helmet.
CONCLUSION: Nice piece of equipment to complete a MICH configuration. The Vel-Tye counterweight fulfills its function of getting the helmet with night vision device back in balance on the head.
The Helmet Pouch from Vel-Tye costs $30 with lead weight, without lead (which of course increases shipping costs) $24. There are people who buy this pouch, which can also be ordered directly from the manufacturer, on Ebay for around $75...
