Having offspring is always a beautiful thing, especially when it comes to improved gear. Our friends at Helikon-Tex have further developed their shoulder bag named Wombat - HERE is the SPARTANAT Review - now into the Mk2 version. We tested it thoroughly. As you can see in the header image, the little one has grown quite big. The bag measures a good 46 x 27 x 15cm, including the outer pockets. It's clear that a lot of stuff can fit in there.
Let's start with the two small front pockets. These measure approximately 16 x 18 x 4cm (WxHxD) and are lined on both sides with Velour Velcro. This allows for individual interior organization.
Above the front pockets, there is a two-way zipper. When opened, a narrow document pocket with a large Velcro area is revealed. This pocket is ideal for concealing a pistol (where legal).
On the sides, there are two pockets that can easily hold a 1-liter Nalgene bottle, a small windbreaker, or whatever else you'd like to put in.
Now onto the main compartment. With spacious dimensions of 34 x 27 x 15 cm, it offers almost endless space for all kinds of stuff. We thought of a woman's handbag, now men can catch up. Whether it's laptops, jackets, magazines, lots of snacks, or whatever makes you happy.
To prevent drowning in chaos, the interior has compartments. The bag is shown inside out in the picture, so don't be surprised. The two zippered mesh pockets and side pockets with elastic bands for bottles and similar items are clearly visible.
The entire back is lined with quilted Velour. This allows for flexible organization and storage.
Since the Wombat Mk2 tends to be a bit heavy due to its size, it comes with a wide, relatively stiff yet well-padded strap. The adjustable length of the strap ensures comfortable carrying even when the bag is loaded.
The shoulder strap is detachable and, as shown in the picture, anatomically shaped. This makes the bag very comfortable to carry, even when heavily loaded.
We all know the problem, shoulder bags and quick movements don't go well together unless you have a hip belt at hand. This bag comes with a detachable hip belt that resembles the one on the Training Mini Rigs.
There are two ways to secure the hip belt, ensuring that the bag stays securely on the body depending on the load. The quick release using Split Buckle and …
… G-Hook is quick and easy. A simple and functional system that we love.
