REVIEW: Helikon-Tex VIS Pencil and Document Case

Stuff needs to be organized, and Helikon-Tex helps you with that. How? For example, with the Pencil Case and Document Case from their VIS line.

There they are, next to each other velcroed in the backpack. The Document Case on the left measures 16 x 11 x 3 cm, and the Pencil Case on the right 18 x 7 x 5 cm. To give you a better idea of each, their paths will diverge here and we will look at them individually.

The Pencil Case is basically the EDC pencil case. It offers a total of 12 elastic loops that you can fill as you please. We went for a more classic setup. There are 6 loops on the back and also on the bottom part of the pouch.

On the front, you'll find a small zippered compartment for post-its, erasers, sharpeners, etc., which allows for a decent mobile office setup.

The hand-sized Document Case offers space for small, flat items such as identification documents and the like.

A wallet is also readily accommodated. This way, we have all important IDs and documents ready at hand. It's also useful for office work, as the size of the pouch is perfect for small notepads.

To show you the internal compartments, we've turned the pouch inside out. Three compartments are revealed on the back of the pouch.

On the front, there is a zippered compartment for more small items. Credit cards and loose papers are suitable for this compartment.

These two wouldn't be versatile inserts if they didn't have velcro on the back. Here's the velcro of the Pencil Case, …

… and the velcro of the Document Case. Both are well-known and very functional, beware of the fuzzy areas!

CONCLUSION: These two inserts are very practical to have a small mobile office in your backpack or bag.
