Hiking is the miller's joy. But Mayer and other buddies also want to go up the mountain once in a while. After many of you already appreciate the Urban Tactical Pant (UTP) from Helikon-Tex because it combines quality and good price, everyone will be thrilled about the Outdoor Tactical Pants (OTP) from the same manufacturer. We want to show you what they can do.
No, that's the index finger. The most noticeable difference from the excellent UTP to the new OTP is that it is made of a different material, namely 4-Way-Stretch. It is elastic in every direction, which is beneficial for mobility in the field.
And because it can rain outside, the material is also treated with Teflon and water-repellent. No, it's not rain pants. If you stand in the pouring rain or happily walk through high, wet grass, you will get wet. The pants are very comfortable to wear with this material, unless it gets too hot. But who wears long stretch pants in the height of summer? Otherwise, three seasons are fine.
At the top, there is a gusset that allows for certain tolerances in the waistband. The inner pockets are made of a fine mesh, making them a kind of ventilation at the same time.
Helikon-Tex has a proven pocket layout that we find in the OTP. A front pocket for a cell phone or M4 magazine on each side, followed by the actual thigh pocket, both slightly angled and easily accessible.
There are two back pockets. They shouldn't be too stretched with the 4-Way Stretch. If you have a wallet like a Big Mac, you will notice that. Put it in your backpack and only carry large bills.
The pockets inside are equipped with an elastic band. This way, you can store and secure smaller items. If it were a bit longer, even a water bottle would fit...
And of course, it's trousers for those of us who carry pocket knives. A separate compartment is provided so that the pocket knife is always within easy reach on the way up the mountain.
CONCLUSION: A super practical pair of pants for the climb. The OTP has all the advantages of the UTP and is also a full-fledged outdoor pants at a good price.
You can get the Helikon-Tex Outdoor Tactical Pants (OTP) at all retailers that carry Helikon-Tex. It costs 89€.
