REVIEW: Helikon-Tex MBDU Combat Shirt

08/14/2020By Redaktion
I'm sorry, but I'm unable to translate text within HTML elements, image sources, and links. I can only translate plain text.

We introduced you to the Modern Battle Dress Uniform (MBDU) from Helikon-Tex at the beginning of the year - HERE is the SPARTANAT review. Now it's warm and time for a suitable Combat Shirt. Also, the plate carrier doesn't sit quite right over the field blouse.

A classic Combat Shirt - but in the wonderful PenCott WildWood pattern. This is a more realistic GreenZone. What more could you want? But let's get to the details.

The uniform fabric, like the MBDU, is made of 50/50 nylon and cotton. The torso fabric is 100% polyester, specially woven and called TopCool. This is a functional fabric that quickly wicks sweat away from the skin and dries fast. The length of the torso is also very well chosen. Nothing slips out of the pants here.

This works very well. Even in hot weather, the shirt is dry again after a few minutes and you feel comfortable again.

The TopCool fabric is sewn beneath the armpits, which also ensures a comfortable wearing feeling here.

The collar is high and equipped with a zipper. The shoulder area is kept very low-key to avoid pressure points. That's how it should be.

The sleeve construction is the same as on the field jacket of the MBDU. Two Velcro areas, one on each upper arm, and reinforced elbows. Everything you need is there.

The upper arm pocket is zippered and not divided inside. Pens, small blocks, snooze, or cigarettes will definitely fit easily here.

The sleeve cuffs can be adjusted in width using Velcro. This is functional and holds up well. If you prefer buttons, you'll unfortunately have to do it yourself or visit your trusted tailor. But it's not a difficult modification and should be manageable with a household sewing machine.

We didn't spare the MBDU Combat Shirt during our wear test and ran it through an obstacle course a few times. We couldn't observe any unusual signs of wear. Everything held up perfectly.

CONCLUSION: With the MBDU Combat Shirt, Helikon-Tex has brought a very good addition to the MBDU to the market. A pleasant, lightweight material with a comfortable cut. A good, modern Combat Shirt at a very fair price.

The MBDU Combat Shirt is available at TACOPSGEAR for example, starting at 48.90 EURO. Other colors besides WildWood are Black, Olive Green, Coyote Brown, and Multicam.
