Sometimes you need very little to roam through the wilderness, but this little bit also needs to be well stored and organized. This is where the Kitbag from Helikon Tex from their Bushcraft line comes into play. We took a closer look at this practical, small bag for you:In terms of design and size, the Kitbag reminds us of a classic MOLLE field canteen bag. In our opinion, one of the most practical bags from the MOLLE II series. However, the Kitbag is a significantly improved version. We'll describe it in more detail for you.
The Kitbag consists mainly of a main compartment and two attached compartments. The main compartment can hold items the size of a canteen bottle, including a cup - or a wallet and pocket organizer.
A drawstring can be used to close the opening. On the back, there is a small slip pocket for IDs and documents, for example.
Inside the padded lid, there is a small mesh pocket. This is a great place to store batteries, notes, or pills.
On the front body of the Kitbag, there is a small, elongated compartment with two elastic loops. This is intended for field cutlery, but pens or chemlights also fit well in it.
Each zipped side compartment features a small dummy cord loop and a mesh divider. This is where anything from a small GPS to a phone to pistol magazines can be stored.
The shoulder strap can easily be removed, as well as the Fastex buckles, or…
… they can be stored in the designated opening. Then the wearer can alternatively attach the bag.
Thanks to the MOLLE system, the Kitbag can be easily mounted on a belt, vest, or backpack.
We especially like the integrated quiver, similar to the one found in the Bushcraft Satchel. It can easily carry large and small knives, an axe, or your tomahawk. Very discreet and very practical!
You can fit up to four magazines in the Kitbag, or the canteen bottle with cup as mentioned earlier. For size comparison, there is a Garmin Etrex mt in the image of the side pockets.
CONCLUSION: Helikon has once again teamed up with Survivaltech.pl to bring a very well-thought-out, versatile product to the market. Although it is intended for the wild bush, it also works very well as a small EDC bag for the city or as a versatile canteen bag on the belt.
Available for example at Camostore in Black, OD, Coyote, and Adaptive Green (Link) for €44.99 (excluding shipping) and all retailers carrying Helikon products.
