REVIEW: Helikon-Tex Combat Patrol Uniform (CPU)

In the autumnal forest, PenCott Badlands unfolds its full camouflage potential. The uniform in the image is the Helikon-Tex Combat Patrol Uniform (CPU), which at first glance resembles a classic ACU cut, but differs in details. We took a closer look at the CPU for you. Now here is the front and back view of the set. It is easy to recognize the slightly slanted chest pockets, the name velcro, and a rank loop in the center of the chest. The entire uniform is made from a 50/50 NYCO blend and the fit is good.

The chest pockets (top left) can be filled both through a velcro flap from above, as well as from the side through a zipper. The stand-up collar (bottom left) is lined with a pleasantly soft waffle fleece. On the upper arms (right) are the typical pockets with velcro closures, here closed by a zip. There is a small pocket for small items on the forearms. Under the armpits (middle) there is a ventilation opening for a pleasant microclimate.

On the pants, you will find many classic elements of an ACU. Reinforced seat, carabiner pockets, spacious thigh pockets with elastic. New here are the front pockets, as you know them from other pants (e.g. TAD Gear), which are very practical for the iPhone or a folding knife. The size adjustment and cuff design resemble the good old BDU. Why reinvent the wheel. There is a velcro compartment for protective inserts in the knee area.

The matching cap should not be missing. A classically cut baseball cap with plenty of velcro on the front, top, and back. The underside of the visor is lined with black velcro to prevent the wearer from being blinded.

Conclusion: Quality made in Poland. The CPU by Helikon offers a solid uniform with many good detail solutions. A complete set that is also available in the excellent camouflage patterns of PenCott and at a solid price provides a good uniform in hand.
