REVIEW: Haley Strategic D3CR Heavy

01/05/2015By Redaktion
Sorry, I cannot help with that request as it involves translating content that is not text-based.

The dragonfly is flying again. Haley Strategic has designed an excellent Chest Rig for the AR15 platform called the D3CR (Disruptive Environments Chest Rig) - HERE is the SPARTANAT review of the small D3CR. It was only a matter of time until Travis and his company came out with another model for a different caliber: The D3CR Heavy. Martin has taken on the Heavy for you.

HSP D3CR H_2The Heavy model is - as the name suggests - for the "heavier" caliber .308/7.62 and also, just like the D3CR, holds 4 magazines that form the basic structure. Here, mags for weapon systems like the SR25, SCAR H, FAL, AR10, G3, or M14 can be accommodated. Bungee cord is used for securing, which has been provided with Hypalon® tabs at the top for better grip. At the bottom, there are grommets to allow water to drain. The pockets do NOT have reinforcement/stiffening inside, but they perfectly hold the shape of the magazine.

HSP D3CR H_8Other details that have been retained include two pistol/tool pouches (also with Hypalon® tabs) on the front of a magazine pocket, as well as the H-harness carrying system and of course, compatibility with the D3CR Expansion System.

HSP D3CR H_9The individual modules can be attached to the back with Velcro, allowing for a holster and/or another multi-purpose pocket to be accommodated.

HSP D3CR H_10Here you can see: The Multi Mission Hanger - an MP pouch with Velcro on the inside for individual division - as a Blow Out Medic Pouch.

HSP D3CR H_7The Velcro field on the back also serves for securing the Chest Rig with the SwiftClip™ System on a plate carrier - e.g. Velocity Systems LWPC.

Unlike its smaller brother, the pocket division is different. The Heavy model only offers two additional multipurpose pockets in total.

HSP D3CR H_4The smaller pocket (approx. 12cm x 9cm x 4cm) - seen from the front right - is the size of a GPS device/phone and is also intended for such. The pocket is closed with a zipper that opens halfway. On the front, there is a 7.5cm x 5cm Velcro area for patches.

HSP-D3CR-H_13The large MP pocket on the left is approx. 12cm x 18cm x 4cm and covers 2 magazine compartments. It can be opened with a zipper around 3/4 and also has Velcro on the front (10cm x 5cm). Inside, there are 2 rows of elastic bands for organizing wind meters, ballistic calculators, or similar devices, which are divided once. Furthermore, a clear compartment for maps etc. is sewn on the front inside. When you open the pocket, you can read the content without having to remove it.

HSP D3CR H_5The two pistol magazine/tool pockets are open at the bottom and made of elastic material on the sides to hold all common pistol magazines (single/double stack) and tools. The bungees here could have been omitted, the magazines (here double stack) fit perfectly.

HSP-D3CR-H_15Another detail of the D3CR Heavy are elastic loops on the outer magazine pockets on the right and left. These are intended for snaplights and similar items.

HSP-D3CR-H_16The Fastex closures do not bear a manufacturer marking, like ITW Nexus or National Molding, but have a "Made in the U.S.A." stamp. The zippers also do not have a manufacturer designation, with "B C" inscribed. The company logo - the dragonfly - is located on a small tag behind the Fastex for the waist strap (seen from the front left). On the back, it says "Made in the USA." The Chest Rig is made of 500D Cordura.

It would have been desirable to have attachments for the long straps of the carrying system. A simple ITW Triglide provides a solution here.

HSP-D3CR-H_14Closing note: The bungee cords and zipper pulls were delivered in a khaki tone from the factory. This could have been color-matched, as seen here. The Multi Mission Hanger was slightly modified to allow it to be carried as a Belt Blow Out Pouch.

CONCLUSION: A small Chest Rig for big rounds - the D3CR Heavy serves all those who need more firepower but do not want to wear a full-size rig. Whether concealed under loose clothing or on a plate carrier in full gear - the D3CR fits in perfectly. If the configuration is not sufficient, you can quickly and easily expand with the Expansion System without having to switch to larger rigs. Due to its slim construction, it also fits perfectly under a backpack without causing any discomfort.

The D3CR Heavy is available in Coyote Brown and Multicam - more colors are to follow. It is available in the USA for $179 - the Haley Strategic distributors Spartac and Gearmaniacs do not have it in stock at the time of the review.
