If you've ever stumbled upon the D3 Sling by Haley Strategic, you've probably wondered what the hell can it do to be worth over 100 euros? Well, in this review, we want to show you what sets this sling apart.

At the beginning, there's the video linked above. Travis Haley explains how the sling came to be and how it can be adjusted to fit personal needs best. It can be worn in a two-point or one-point configuration - and it requires QD Sling Swivels. The materials used were specially chosen to keep the sling as light as possible. The QD Mounts are made of steel, the buckle is made of aluminum, and the strap is simply a MIL-W-4088 Type 7 Webbing. Here it is seen in the one-point configuration with a Steyr AUG. The QD Sling Swivels on the StG are from Claw Gear (Link). The QD attachments on the rifle are also - HERE's the review of the very practical Claw Gear AUG QD Sling Swivels.
Close-up of the one-point configuration with the aluminum buckle. This buckle can also be threaded, so it is on the left if needed. The length is adjusted with the upper webbing. Re-threading in the buckle prevents slippage. If there is too much loose webbing, it can also be cut off, but please at least melt it back with a lighter to prevent fraying. In the close-up, the viewer can see that there are small grooves in the aluminum buckle. This prevents twisting and keeps the sling where it should be.
Inserting the sling should be practiced, so it can be done quickly. It may be a bit unusual if you have previously used carabiners or similar.
Here the viewer sees the rear attachment point. You can immediately see that it looks different. The button is slightly recessed. Since it is not usually used frequently, this prevents accidental release. Also visible on the webbing above, are the very neatly sewn transitions and ends of the webbing. Top quality work!
For adjusting, there's a sewn, open loop. Easy to grip, with or without gloves. Sliding is easy, and the user can feel the advantage of the thin webbing. A classic benefit when working: you can keep the weapon close to the body with a simple hand grip, or with a wide range of motion when aiming with another hand grip.
Multiple laminated layers, wrapped in a Multicam stretch material, form the shoulder pad, adorned with an embroidered Haley Strategic logo. The pad is only two millimeters thick. The material and embroidered logo are reminiscent of Arc'teryx. If you've ever held a modern climbing harness, you'll likely be familiar with the material. It's lightweight, comfortable, and sewn in a way that prevents scratching. Therefore, it shines when used with thin shoulder pads on plate carriers or even when wearing just a T-shirt.
The D3 Sling is also available in the SLK version, where no QD connectors are installed, and custom sling attachments can be added. This significantly lowers the price.
Shown here with some variations. Anything that can be threaded is possible. It can, therefore, be mounted directly on the rifle.
CONCLUSION: Modern materials, lightweight, functional - a great sling that serves those who strive for the last percent. The only thing that could be done better is to use accessories from Magpul. And, hey, it's from Travis...
