REVIEW: Gumbies Australian Shoes

05/01/2018By Redaktion

Normally we present you with more solid and laced footwear here. But, hey, we're getting older, a bit more leisure is part of the quality of life, and that's why we often take off our sturdy shoes and let our feet breathe fresh air. And if you took that seriously, then it's your own fault. What we need are light and easy shoes: for use at camp and as light summer shoes. Beach, please! Well, it doesn't get much lighter than Gumbies.

Those familiar with geography will immediately recognize that these shoes have something to do with Australia. The inventor of the improved flip-flops, Michel Maurer, emigrated to Australia at the age of 16, legend has it, and at some point wondered what he should seriously do there. The result: Gumbies.

And this is how Gumbies describes itself: Its idea is based on the distinctive sole made from recycled rubber and jute, providing perfect grip on all surfaces. The only trace Gumbies leave in nature is a sustainable footprint when walking on the sand. The upper material with straps and toe post is made of soft, particularly skin-friendly, and recycled cotton material.

There is breathable canvas cotton in the ergonomically shaped footbed, making the shoe especially comfortable and durable. Gumbies are even vegan, without any animal ingredients. But to be honest, even though they are vegan, we wouldn't recommend eating Gumbies. Unless maybe in the most extreme survival situation. We have certainly worn them around the terrain, and they worked quite well. Here you can see the very decent profile they have. Freedom certainly comes at a price. It's no use having the best tread if the fit isn't right. But you don't need to push them beyond their limits. The cloth straps are enough. Remember: it's hot, you want something other than boots when you're at camp or going to the beach. These flat, lightweight shoes also fit nicely in your backpack for a hike.

What they also do is absorb moisture. They're not plastic flip-flops. Just let the Gumbies sit in the sun for a while. They'll be fine again.

CONCLUSION: Great for the summer. They also come in very attractive camouflage patterns. And for the ladies and civilians, they come in colorful options.

You can find Gumbies Australian Shoes in various colors and camouflage patterns at CAMOSTORE for 29.95 euros.
