The manufacturer Ginger Gear Tactical (GTG) produces high-quality gear in Poland in a wide range of colors. Our reader Michael took a look at GTG's flagship, the Ginger Plate Carrier, or GPC, and tells us about his impressions.
The GPC is made of 500D Cordura and can be individually configured in the online shop. GTG offers different cummerbunds and front flaps to choose from. The GPC was tested with a Skeletal Cummerbund and Kangaroo Front Flap.
At first glance, the plate carrier resembles the JPC from Crye Precision, but here the shoulder area is not constructed with laser cut and hypalon. The plate carrier is available in sizes M and L. These sizes are not based on the operator's measurements, but on the SAPI plates you want to use.
The cummerbund of the GPC is velcroed at the back and can be easily adjusted in size. The stretch material ensures comfort and breathability. The MOLLE rows are reinforced and provide secure attachment for additional equipment. You have the option to choose from four different cummerbunds: Skeletal, Combat, Flexible, and Speed M4.
As usual, the size of the plate carrier can also be adjusted under the shoulder pads. Comfort shoulder pads are available for additional comfort.
There are Velcro fastenings on the shoulder pads for cables and hoses.
The front flaps are velcroed at the top of the GPC and can be easily swapped out. GTG also offers four different front flaps. Of course, there is a Velcro area for patches.
Snap buttons hold the corners in place. A functional solution indeed.
Without the front flap, the velcro is visible. You could also attach a Micro Rig to the GPC. Additionally, a MOLLE row is sewn at the bottom for attaching additional equipment.
The rear rescue loop is neatly held in place with Velcro when not in use. The back panel offers plenty of PALS loops, but unfortunately no zippers.
The inside is made of mesh fabric and Cordura, with no padding.
CONCLUSION: A lovingly and high-quality crafted plate carrier made in Poland, which definitely offers an alternative to established manufacturers. In addition to plate carriers, GTG also manufactures belts and pouches.
The GPC is available directly from GTG for 230 Euros in standard colors such as Coyote Brown, Ranger Green, and Black, as well as in Multicam, Multicam Black, Multicam Tropical, Multicam Arid, Pencott Greenzone, and Woodland.
