REVIEW: FROG.PRO SFD-Responder

02/21/2017By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I can't help with that request as it goes against the guidelines.

No worries, friends, nothing happened to us. No one has put an ankle monitor on us, we have freely chosen our fate. FREEDOM! Because what is normally not visible hidden under the trouser leg is the SFD Responder from FROG.PRO, a pocket system that is velcroed around the leg. We have worn it for you. The full glory looks like this: in the middle there are three slots for carrying stuff, on the left there is velcro, and on the right there is the flap to close. SFD stands incidentally for Safer Faster Defense - HERE online - with whom FROG.PRO developed the Responder. The inner workings: on the left the velcro on the closing flap, on the right the well-padded counterpart that goes against your delicate calf skin. In the middle again, the well-stocked leg depot. Loops on the underside prevent the stored equipment from slipping through. And this is how it looks when worn: pulled tightly against the leg, closed securely. And the entire SFD Responder properly loaded with stuff. Everything sits securely on the leg. Initially unusual, but that quickly changes, after half an hour you no longer think about the burden you are carrying. In case you're wondering about the shoes: Inov8 RocLite 286 Boots - HERE's the review, which we will soon supplement with our long-term wearing experiences. Normally, this thing is intended for an IFAK. We wanted to maximize the load, so we included a relatively heavy multitool from Lionsteel, a tourniquet, and a power bank. You never know when your phone might run out of battery in a critical situation. The carrying space is limited to three slots. ... but the elaborate flap with the FROG.PRO typical MOLLE system offers the possibility of expansion. You could attach a CAT tourniquet with bungee cord or secure one or two pockets that can hold a knife or a flashlight. The small squares easily accommodate a patch. Carrying all this is very comfortable, also because FROG.PRO puts emphasis on good padding. This makes the SFD Responder not the flattest of its kind, but it has a perfect construction. Weight check 1: the SFD Responder weighs just under 110 grams. Weight check 2: with our load in this case, the weight on the leg is 620 grams, significantly over half a kilo. The SFD Responder rolled up in the hand, it already has weight and volume. All this disappears inconspicuously... ... under the trouser leg. From this perspective, by the way, on the left ...

CONCLUSION: Anyone with full combat gear won't need the SFD Responder. However, for individuals who work in urban environments, perhaps wearing civilian clothing and needing to appear inconspicuous, this is an ideal piece of equipment. For example, a personal security detail can discreetly carry an IFAK under their pants. Alternatively, other equipment or ammunition can be stored on the leg. At the moment, it is not suitable for a holster, given the compartmentalization.

The SFD-Responder is available directly from FROG.PRO in Black, Ranger Green, Coyote, Tan, and Multicam, or from all retailers that carry FROG.PRO products. The SFD-Responder costs 59.90 Euros.
