2-point slings are back in style. For those who have now adjusted to a one-point sling, the cold withdrawal is made easy: FROG.PRO offers you both in one at a fair price.
As mentioned in the introduction, since the Magpul hype with Travis Haley and Chris Costa began, the one-point sling has been a perennial favorite. No wonder, it is significantly faster in CQB situations, in unusual shooting positions, and when transitioning to the weak hand than anything else.
The disadvantages are uncontrolled swinging when the weapon is not shouldered, which can potentially cause disruptions in actions, in addition to low blows.
Lately, however, there has been a resurgence of the two-point sling. Kyle Lamb, Frank Procter, and all the others have been swearing by it forever. The strengths of a two-point sling are optimal fixation on the body when the weapon is not shouldered. This applies both to the front and to the back on the back, for example, when climbing.
So everything you want to do with your hands free is ideal to implement with a two-point sling. Helping comrades, making arrests, and so on, this variant excels. Another advantage is shot stabilization.
The arm is placed on the sling, stabilizing the weapon, which is a huge difference, especially for further shots while standing. If the sling is attached at the rear end of the buttstock externally, the sling also pulls the weapon towards the cheek, which also helps in shooting.
To shoot with the weak hand, you have to slip out of the sling and be careful not to strangle yourself, but with the right sling (a well-gliding one) and practice, it's not a problem at all.
The FROG.PRO Enhanced Carbine Sling combines the advantages of both worlds in one strap. It can be used as both a one-point sling and a two-point sling. This is achieved with a D-ring, which then allows the hook to be clipped in.
That's right, the FROG.PRO Sling has HK rifle hooks. However, it is also available optionally as a loop/hook or loop/loop version. So everyone can choose how they want to attach the strap to the weapon. One-point sling can only be done with HK hooks, as there is no pushpin attachment.
Both the front and rear ends can be quickly released from the weapon with Fastex buckles. This saves you from unclipping with the carabiner. They also have a cover made of elastic material for rattle protection, which can be quickly pushed back.
Here you can see the sling in the unclipped state again.
For quick adjustment, a ladderloc with a paracord loop is used. It's not as fast as with other straps, but the module is very, very light. At the end of the sling, there is a web dominator from ITW Nexus, which takes up the excess strap material. To prevent the strap from fluttering around, there is also an additional plastic hook through which the pullable webbing is fed.
The Enhanced Carbine Sling is made of 500D Cordura (padding) and 25mm webbing. The length is approximately 90cm and the weight is 200 grams.
On the range, the sling already performs well, we have used it in all conceivable application situations. As mentioned, the ladderloc is a bit more difficult to operate than others that use a spring-loaded cam buckle (Ferro, VTAC). Otherwise, the padding is extremely long, ensuring comfort in every shooting position. Clear advantage over other slings.
CONCLUSION: The FROG.PRO Enhanced Carbine Sling is a mature sling that allows the user to work in one-point or two-point mode. The MESH hooks are not quite our thing, as we prefer to work with push pins, but for those who have these attachments on the rifle, it is definitely the right sling. In addition, you have the Fastex buckle, which allows for quick release of the sling like with push pins.
The sling is available from FROG.PRO starting at €41 (without hooks) in a variety of colors: Gray, Tan, Coyote, Black, Vegetatio, Multicam, and Ranger Green.
