REVIEW: FROG.PRO Air Warrior Plate Carrier

Air! That's what cools the body when the wearer takes off the armor, when plate carriers and SAPIs come off and the sweaty upper body can relax. Nothing cools as well as air and sweat working together. Accordingly, "Air" is a word found in the description of many different manufacturers, FROG.PRO from Italy takes it seriously: the Air Warrior Plate Carrier (AWPC) is the airiest plate carrier we have ever seen. Its secret: Mesh! SPARTANAT has tested it for you.

Everything on the man: the AWPC from the front and from the back. The magic of the airy companion, his body is made entirely of mesh, in the front (left) as well as in the back (right). If you can't see it as well on the front, it's also because there is an integrated Chest Rig. Docked at the two QASM locks on the chest (left) and with Velcro on the belly, the straps of the rig are tensioned towards the back (right). There are Velcro areas on the chest and back.

Side view of the AWPC. You can see how huge the Chest Rig, which consists of MOLLE and mesh, is. It extends well beyond the slick width and can be fully configured with pockets from right to left, just the way the wearer wants it. But it doesn't always have to be full, it can also be reduced to the essentials. The front and rear plate pockets are connected by a stretchy band that runs most of the way under the rig.

Away with the Rig! Unclip at the back, then release at the QASMs on the chest as well and slide away the Velcro area that prevents any additional movement. What remains is a lightweight Slick Plate Carrier, which is also very suitable for concealed carry.

The Cumberbund is velcroed at the front and back. Unfasten on the sides and the wearer can exit the Plate Carrier.

Look inside: here too is a very nice and simple solution. The SAPIs - here Team Wendy Training ESAPI Plates, as available in Germany at HCS Soldatenausrüstung - are stored in mesh pockets. The precise fit is adjusted with wide Velcro on the top.

CONCLUSION: The Air Warrior Plate Carrier from FROG.PRO is an extremely well-made and innovative plate carrier that also looks very cool. If the SAPIs are not training blue, they do not stand out as much. Special advantages of the AWPC are the high air permeability due to the continuous use of mesh and the extremely low weight. The combination here weighs just under 0.5 kilos. That's probably a record...
