REVIEW: FMA SAPI Dummy Ballistic Plate

12/12/2020By Redaktion

Dummy plates are always good - for training or for MilSim. The one above is a solid piece of plastic from FMA.

A plate is not just a plate, the two common American models are shown in the graphic on the left. SAPI for regular use, Swimmer for special forces, simplified. The latter provides more arm mobility when reaching forward due to its cut.

This is what the FMA dummy plate looks like from the back. FMA did not invent it, but rather recreated it based on the training plate from S&S Precision (the circle is smaller, and the angle of the struts is slightly different). So, somehow a clone.

The plate is about the width of a thumb and nice and light yet sturdy.

Originally, it was used for the TMC Plate Frame.

Those are the dimensions. In terms of cut, it leans more towards Swimmer and a bit of SAPI, fitting as a slim stiffener in other plate carriers, not just one (very special) plate frame.

CONCLUSION: Very solid training plate at a nice price. Practical if you don't like/need the weight. And of course, it also prevents damage to the real plate during training.

You can find the FMA SAPI Dummy Ballistic Plate at AIRSOFTZONE in Dark Earth and Black for 16.90 euros.
