Green flashing lights on the helmet are currently very popular, just like the Hel-Star 6. This strobe, which reminds us of a scarab beetle, is produced by Core Survival. Today we took a closer look at the clone for you.
There are 3 lighting modes available: green steady light, green steady light with white flash, and IR flashing. The body has 2 slide switches, one at the back with 3 positions (0;1;2) and one at the front with 2 positions. If the back one is slid to position 1, the green steady light is activated, sliding it to position 2 adds the white blinking LEDs. To switch to IR operation, the back switch must be moved to position 2 and the front one to the upper position (IR LEDs with red circles, see image).
The processing is overall very good and high quality. The battery compartment at the bottom is made of rubber with the manufacturer's logo on it. The battery (CR123A) fits a bit snugly and required us some finesse.
The strobe weighs 67g with the battery, making it 7g lighter than the Manta-Strobe clone from Element. In terms of size, both are similar, but the Element is stronger in terms of brightness.
Conclusion: A very good clone of a still relatively unknown helmet strobe. The quality is very good and it fulfills its purpose more than adequately.
