"It looks so real that your competitor/enemy/opponent can't tell the difference," says the box of the FMA AN/PVS-18, a dummy for MilSim players or a visual aid that can simulate a real night vision device. FMA really goes to great lengths...
This is the whole "device." Of course, it has no function, but it is very well made. The dummy weighs 270 grams. The material used is nylon and metal. Unfortunately, the quick-mounts for the Rhino - the dovetails - are made of plastic.
Also included are the correct stickers that make the visual aid look as realistic as possible, as well as the bikini covers for the night vision device. The ring for the lanyard is already there. FMA pays attention to details, which we appreciate.
The bikinis on the real ones - available here - are even ITAR regulated. You can avoid this with the FMA piece. The lanyard on the battery compartment is also there, and the color of the sealing ring on the battery compartment is accurate.
Counter shot: The on-off switch on the right is movable, with the correct labeling.
Here again with the bikini.
And there it is naked. The large opening is where you would normally look through, but here it has a bluish disc.
Even a lens in the front, looking very realistic.
And it even works. When you look through it, you see a dark night... so a night vision device... 😉
CONCLUSION: Impressive dummy from FMA, looks extremely realistic. We handed it to someone familiar with such devices and said: We have something new, take a look. It was only when he tried to turn it on that he realized it was a visual aid.
The FMA AN/PVS-18 Dummy is available at AIRSOFTZONE for €42.90.
