Easter fire anyone? This one burns in any weather and even indoors. The Fire Dragon Cooker folding cooker with Fuel Blocks is a practical way to cook in the field and comes in a complete set with fuel and fire steel.
The fire steel is small and solid. It throws sparks better than some more expensive models. And it's a nice addition: Yes, you can easily ignite the fuel blocks with the fire steel. But you can also do it with matches or a lighter and keep the fire steel in the emergency kit. Nice to have.
The Fire Dragon looks a bit cheap - and it is (purchase price under 10 euros). It's difficult to photograph the burning of the gel blocks because they burn almost invisibly. The whole thing works on the same principle as the Esbit cooker, but with the clear advantage that you can use this cooker indoors (vehicle, armored personnel carrier), which is not recommended with Esbit. There is no unpleasant odor development here.
The Fuel Blocks are actually only blocks because of the plastic casing they are wrapped in. It's more of a gel that burns in this residue here. There is no soot on the cookware. Each block burns for about 8 minutes (2 blocks together about 12 minutes). A cup of water should be warm enough with one block on the field cooker. You can also use the blocks or parts of them very conveniently as kindling for a (wet) campfire.
Warming your hands is possible but inefficient. As always, the flame is hardly visible. You can also use the fuel cubes (unlit) to clean your hands, like a dry soap.
CONCLUSION: A small, practical field cooker option. Inexpensive and efficient, compact size. Good for the tour. The fuel material is impressively practical and attractively priced.
You can get the Fire Dragon Cooker folding cooker with Fuel Blocks at CAMOSTORE for 9.90 euros. The refill pack with fuel cubes costs 3.90 euros. Fire Dragon ignition gel is available in a bottle for 4.90 euros.
