REVIEW: Ferro Concepts Roll 1 Trauma Pouch

First aid supplies can never be carried enough during operations. But how can all that stuff be best stored? The guys from Ferro Concepts put their heads together and came up with the Roll 1 Trauma Pouch.

This is how the Roll 1 Trauma Pouch looks like mounted on the Slickster. It looks like a small muff. This pouch is about 24 cm long and has a maximum diameter of 8 cm.

The Roll 1 Trauma Pouch is made of Cordura and Velcro. Loop Velcro on the front, …

… and hook Velcro on the back. This allows you to attach the Roll 1 Trauma Pouch to almost any plate carrier or chest rig. It is also possible to wear it on a belt.

A small piece of webbing sticks out on both sides. These are the pull tabs for the insert.

Pull firmly and the insert is out. It is made of nylon, webbing, and Velcro.

The insert of the Roll 1 Trauma Pouch is unfolded. You can see a simple division using rubber bands. Simple but functional.

Under the rubber band section, there is a large slip pocket where chest seals and other large, thin first aid supplies go.

Now let's see if our standard IFAK contents fit into the Roll 1 Trauma Pouch. Ferro Concepts offers their own refill sets, unfortunately only in the USA and Canada.

Almost everything fits, only the Celox is a bit too big and cannot be folded further.

Ferro uses "Combat Gauze" here because it can be folded smaller. So we do the same.

We admit we were skeptical if the insert could be closed again, but it does. So stuff everything back into the case.

At both openings of the cover, you will find an elastic drawstring. This way, you can reduce the opening.
