REVIEW: FENIX TK 16 V2.0

12/04/2021By Redaktion

What do we expect from an EDC flashlight? It should be able to be powered by a battery, be bright, and withstand a lot. Today we take a look at the FENIX TK 16 V2.0 and see how it performs.

This is how the FENIX TK 16 V2.0 looks in hand. It measures about 14 cm long with a pleasant body diameter of 25.4mm. The lamp head has a diameter of 34mm.

The flashlight is made of aluminum and weighs 185g with battery and clip. The threads are equipped with an O-ring. The FENIX TK 16 V2.0 is waterproof to IP68 and also shockproof. We've dropped it a few times, but it still works flawlessly.

The FENIX TK 16 V2.0 disassembled into its main parts. These include the body, lamp head, pressure switch, pocket clip, and of course the battery. This 3.6V 5000mAh 21700 form factor battery provides plenty of power for the LED in the lamp head.

Here are the exact lumen and candela specifications from Fenix for you. Up to 3,100 lumens with 36,100 candela. Very impressive.

The pocket clip is solidly executed and does what it's supposed to do. If you don't need it, you can quickly and easily remove it.

If you want to use the clip in a different way, you need to unscrew the lamp head and tailcap in the opposite direction. This works without any problems.

The most important part of the FENIX TK 16 V2.0, the battery. It is equipped with a USB-C charging port. Very practical. The battery has overcharge protection to prevent accidental damage. This makes handling much easier. Simply plug in the USB-C cable and the red light will illuminate on the positive pole.

When everything is fully charged, it switches to green. If you want to carry additional batteries for safety, you can also purchase them separately from FENIX. The positive pole should be inserted towards the lamp head in the FENIX TK 16 V2.0. If you happen to make a mistake, no problem, as the flashlight is equipped with reverse polarity protection. It simply won't light up and won't break.

The operation switch/end cap. The cap is equipped with two push buttons. The larger one is the on-off switch and allows for both "momentary" and "constant" modes. The second switch is used to change the brightness levels and activate the strobe mode. You will also find two small loops on the cap for a lanyard.

In our video about the FENIX TK 16 V2.0, we show you the various lighting modes. Of course, it is rainproof thanks to its IP68 rating, what more could you want?

CONCLUSION: The FENIX TK 16 V2.0 exceeds our initial requirements. It is bright, sturdy, and operates on a single battery. The operation is simple and leaves nothing to be desired. The last used brightness level is saved, which can sometimes be too bright or too dim. But thanks to the good switch positioning, this can be easily adjusted. Overall, the FENIX TK 16 V2.0 is a solid choice for an EDC flashlight.

The FENIX TK 16 V2.0 is available directly from FENIX in Germany for 99.99 euros.
