The big brother of the Falke B5X magnifier is the B5X. Usually, magnifiers with more than 3x magnification lose optical quality – not the B5X. Here is our test.

In our extensive magnifier comparison test, we have been asked about magnifiers that were not included in the test. This was mainly because some devices had just been released or were simply impossible to obtain. However, we have since acquired more devices and are striving to get even more to make the comparison test as comprehensive as possible. The B5X is, as expected, slightly larger than the 3X version. It measures 120mm x 51mm x 55mm, making it 1.3cm longer than the B3X (here in the review). The weight has also increased: 405 grams with the mount, 294 grams without – that's just 26 grams more. Included in the total weight is the detachable rubber cover weighing 28 grams. The construction of the larger Falke is just as good as its smaller counterpart. A sturdy housing that can be additionally coated with a rubber protection, detachable caps for the adjustment turrets, and of course, diopter adjustment. For those who have not read the B3X review: The turret caps are slotted and can be used as screwdrivers for adjusting the optics.

The mounting is exactly the same as the B3X and therefore not implemented so well. The swivel function to the side is problematic for stress-free use here.Due to the straight locking points, you can quickly jam, and using it requires practice and precise movements: grasp the magnifier straight, pull it back, fold it to the side, and let go.However, the manufacturing and assembly of the mount are of high quality; it is secured to the rail with a knurled screw. To cover different reflex sights with varying heights, a riser along with matching screws has been included. The riser weighs 9 grams.

If you don't like the mounting, take heart: all common mounts on an EOTech base work with the Falke magnifiers. The optical part of the review will be exciting. So far, all magnifiers that exceeded 3x magnification had deficits in optical processing. Blurred edges, dark glasses, etc. – all of these aspects have made the use of magnifiers with more than 3x difficult. Except for the fivefold magnification, the B5X shows no differences compared to the B3X. Sharp edges, clear and bright – 7.9 meters field of view at 100 meters. This is less than the smaller brother due to construction but partly just as good as some 3x magnifiers in our test series. The eye relief is not as exceptionally large as the B3X, but due to the extended housing, it is not a real problem: both magnifiers could be shot with the same head placement. The accessories are the same as the B3X: the magnifier comes with a detachable rubber cap, an Allen key, long screws for the riser, the riser itself, and a cleaning cloth.
