REVIEW: ERATAC USL mount

An AIMPOINT ACRO or a Steiner MPS are more intended for pistols, but they are also often mounted on long guns. From ERATAC, there is the Ultra-Slim-Lever (USL) mount for such optics and we want to introduce it to you today.

This mount caught the attention of most people in the media on the HAENEL MK556, with which the weapons for Ukraine were equipped. A STEINER MPS was used as the target optic - a separate review will follow - along with the ERATAC USL mount. The mount is still featured in the new products section at ERATAC.

And that's exactly the combination: The ERATAC USL mount is made of high-strength 7075 aluminum and is milled from a solid block. All functional parts are made of tempered, stainless steel. Everything is hard-anodized to MIL-SPEC Type III for a beautiful matte black finish. In short, highest quality, as you would expect from ERATAC.

We are particularly impressed by the quick-release lever. It is extremely smooth and holds securely on the Picatinny rail. A safety feature is, of course, included.

To open it, the locking lever must be pressed and held.

Then the clamping lever can be folded away. The tension force on the rail can be adjusted with the small screw above the lever.

Mounting on the weapon is simple. Open the lever, place it on the Picatinny rail, and flip it up. Finally, close the lever. It takes just a second and works very repeatably thanks to the "Recoil Lug". This means the weapon remains zeroed even if you remove the optic and put it back in the same place.

Our ERATAC USL mount is equipped with the Aimpoint ACRO attachment. This same profile is also used by the STEINER MPS. Other hole patterns are also available: AIMPOINT Micro, Trijicon RMR, and Docter/Noblex.

What we also like is that you can see through the mount. This is very practical in case the worst-case scenario happens and you have to switch sights in the middle of it.

CONCLUSION: German engineering at its finest, that's the best way to describe the ERATAC USL mount. Perfectly made, repeatable, and everything just fits. A very good mount to get a Red Dot on your long gun.
