The G33 STS Magnifier is the successor to the G23, which was mainly criticized for its optical clarity and small field of view. All of that has been addressed and now the G33 shines with optical brilliance and edge sharpness that are absolutely high quality. The eye relief of 5.5cm is on par with Burris and very usable. The field of view has been expanded to 11.6 meters at 100 meters. The magnifier measures 100mm x 50mm x 50mm, making it a truly compact device. The weight is a decent 216 grams, especially when combined with the included mount: then the total weight is 303 grams without spacers for cowitness height and 311 grams for 1/3 lower cowitness.
With the riser, you have the ideal height for the EOTech EXPS reflex sight. The mechanics are military-tested and excellent. The lens adjustment can be done without tools, and the diopter adjustment is smooth.
Due to the exposed adjustment turrets and their tool-less adjustment, the center can of course shift quickly, which we see as a disadvantage. However, hitting the target will not be problematic, as regardless of the position of the reticle in the magnifier, the point of impact does not change.
The mounting system is one of the best in our entire test series. In addition to quick disassembly thanks to the quick-release, it allows the optic to be swiveled to the side without pressing any buttons or releasing any locks. STS stands for "Switch To Side", explaining the functionality of the mounting system very clearly. The housing is waterproof up to 10 meters, shockproof, and additionally protected with a rubber coating.
All of this comes at a price - at over 600 euros, the G33 is at the top end of our test series.
