The problem of the transitional period or cold nights in foreign countries is the temperature. And the question of what to wear. Sweater? Jacket? Or both? Add some movement to it – and it quickly gets too hot. Arc'teryx LEAF has found an answer to this with the Minotaur Halfshell. Evolution Gear has replicated this exclusive piece, which would otherwise sell for hundreds of dollars, with the DEVGRU Style Soft Shell Jacket Khaki (NSWDG Style) available directly from J.K. ARMY.
This piece looks simply like a Combat Shirt …
… and it is. View from behind. We wear it over the pants for visibility, but normally it is tucked into the pants.
The functionality comes from the materials used: the Minotaur Halfshell is like a softshell jacket in the upper part and like a fleece pullover underneath. 92% polyester, 8% spandex, Nano TPU coated, the Halfshell is water repellent on the top.
Underneath, it provides good warmth without getting too hot. Gear on the person, movement, and temperature around zero degrees, it works well. In the video above, you can see the original Minotaur and get an explanation.
Evolution Gear has really put in a lot of effort, and the replica is very close to the original. The rest is forgivable considering it costs one-seventh of the original price. A soft fleece is also used in the collar area.
The Minotaur has a high collar that can be completely closed.
If it gets too hot, it can be worn open.
Zipper pull with heat shrink tubing is a nice detail, the seams are very clean here.
This is the built-in air conditioning system, like in a jacket. If it gets too hot, just open it up and adjust the temperature.
There is also a pocket on each upper arm, with Velcro for patches. It's a must-have.
At the sleeve ends are straps. It can be worn open or closed tightly.
The whole thing is designed as a Combat Shirt, to wear it under the plate carrier.
Here is the material tag in the Minotaur from Evolution Gear.
