There are still the simple things. A Chest Rig doesn't have to guarantee survival for two weeks, have everything built in that you need. Including the kitchen. The Eagle Industries Chest Rig M4 Purpose Build is used by US special forces and is a good example of simple functionality.

There it is fully loaded, in AOR2 and AOR1 it is issued to the Navy SEALS. The three magazine pockets in the middle are fixed, otherwise it is modular. The material is 500D Cordura.

Here on the left side we see: the pocket on the left has MOLLE webbing. Here are loaded HK417 magazines. Otherwise, two M4/HK416 magazines fit per pocket.

Magazine pocket removed: on the right and left are four rows of MOLLE with two slots each. This makes the Eagle Industries Chest Rig M4 Purpose Build extremely flexible. More magazines, radio pouch, tourniquets - here fits what you need.

No experiments: It closes with a flap and Velcro.

On the right hand side we see another example, a radio pouch with a compartment for spare batteries. Or Snickers.

The attachment points for the strap system. It simply clips on.

Upper back: the straps are padded and run in an X shape over the body. This guarantees a good fit.

The strap around the belly prevents anything from being too loose. We also see the sliders that can be used to adjust the straps.

View of the back. Plain AOR2, no special design elements.

And that's the tag. 08/08 means that the Rig was manufactured in August 2008.

CONCLUSION: A full-fledged rig, yet customizable. KISS - keep it simple stupid. Fulfilling its duty dutifully.

You can find the Eagle Industries Chest Rig M4 Purpose Build on Ebay.com or at specialized retailers. We have seen it for around 160 dollars in Multicam, the AOR2 version is around 400 dollars.

The two gentlemen in civilian clothing are most likely SEALs. On the left we see the Eagle Industries Chest Rig M4 Purpose Build, worn over a Slick Plate Carrier. On the right is an LBT-6094A Plate Carrier.
