REVIEW: The Phantom Warrior Light

Today we want to introduce a flashlight that most of you probably haven't heard of, namely the Phantom Warrior Light. It is manufactured by the company Phantomlights and has some very amazing features: several different colors (White, IR, NVIS Green, Blue), is difficult to detect with night vision devices, user-friendly, waterproof up to 60 meters (200 ft), battery life of 180 hours. The latest model has a lever that can be used to select the lighting functions. Unfortunately, for the review, we were only able to obtain an older model that emits white and IR light. This flashlight is actually not available for civilians, but only for US Army soldiers.

Let's take a closer look at the flashlight:

It is 16 cm long, 3.5 cm wide and 2 cm thick, with batteries it weighs 153 g. It is powered by 4 AA batteries. When inserted as shown on the flashlight, white light is available. If the batteries are inserted the other way around, IR light is emitted. In the image at the beginning of the article (clickable), the flashlight head can be seen. In the middle is the LED for white light and at the bottom left for IR light. It is completely made of plastic. There are two attachment points for Dummycord on the body.

To turn it on, the flashlight head must be turned clockwise, which is especially user-friendly with gloves. Another advantage is that the LED only lights up very slightly at first and the more it is turned, the brighter it gets. The flashlight thus has an infinitely variable light intensity control. The maximum brightness is far below a Surefire, but bright enough to illuminate the way in the dark without giving away your position. The IR function is not adjustable.

In this image, the brightness can be seen. Left at maximum level, right at almost minimum. It can go even lower, but unfortunately it was no longer visible for the camera, but it is for the human eye.

Conclusion: A very robust, practical flashlight with amazing features. Practical for light camouflage against night vision devices, but also as an IR flashlight that supports night vision devices.
