A small, inconspicuous purple stick, that describes an infrared chemlight quite well. For us, a completely normal and unspectacular piece of equipment. But for everyone who has their first encounter with night vision devices, besides the ability to see in darkness, the IR chemlight is the biggest revelation. So we want to present you with the facts about it.
SPARTANAT is the online magazine for Military News, Tactical Life, Gear & Reviews. It is packaged like any other chemlight, in aluminum foil with various imprints. Our sample has already expired in 2017, but no worries, it still glows perfectly. Cyalume is the manufacturer of chemlights for the US military - their glow sticks always work.
This is what it looks like unpacked. A 15 cm long stick with a diameter of nearly 19 mm at its thickest point. Like most chemlights, it also has a small hook at one end for attachment to equipment. This specimen is also hexagonal, so it doesn't roll away easily on slightly sloping surfaces.
