The Raven makes the AUG better, everyone who has seen the presentation of CORVUS DEFENSION - HERE on SPARTANAT knows that. We already had the opportunity to test the individual parts: today we take a look at the improved and enlarged magazine holder. A picture says more than 100 words: on the left the original, which has dutifully served for 40 years, on the right the new part from CORVUS DEFENSIO. Both nicely knurled, nevertheless no comparison. Where one can slip with the standard mag release and sometimes not press deep enough in stress, these error sources are eliminated with the new CORVUS.
Side comparison: the viewer sees very well that the new thumb rest - when changing the magazine, the bullpup shooter on the AUG grabs the magazine and presses with his thumb on the magazine release - is a curved recess. And that the rim protrudes far, thus one has the double strike area, which directs the force to the center through the curvature. And then simply press until you reach the edge.
The comparison makes sure: there is no comparison in terms of efficiency. In contrast to the previous plastic part, the "Enhanced Magrelease" is also made of aluminum.
Sometimes it is the small parts that are extremely sneaky to mount. The magazine holder is held by a screw that is easy to remove, because inside there is a spring (in the previous picture you can see it lying outside). With the inserted pin, you can place it in the new enlarged magazine holder.
Insert the spring, then press the whole thing into the recess on the stock and quickly drive the screw through. The small pin is extremely helpful so that it doesn't turn into a tedious hours-long experiment. The screw can be secured with liquid threadlocker. Attention: do not tighten too much, otherwise no magazine will release.
One more raven on the Steyr AUG. The logo of CORVUS DEFENSIO in front of the hungry chamber, waiting for its feed.
CONCLUSION: A small, practical solution that improves the Steyr AUG. It offers more safety for both military and sports shooters when reloading. The part fits the standard stock, but not the NATO and 9mm stock for the AUG. The practical function can be seen in the CORVUS video (see Youtube link below).
You can get the Corvus Defensio Enlarged Magazine Holder AUG directly from Corvus Defensio for 59 euros.
