REVIEW: CLAW GEAR MKII Instructor Shirt LS

Going to the range and for training while looking professional is a challenge. And doing so as lightweight as possible. CLAW GEAR has hit a home run with their new MKII Instructor Shirt LS.

The name is close to the short-sleeved MKII Instructor Shirt – HERE in the SPARTANAT Review. LS, on the other hand, is long-sleeved and a whole different caliber than just a tactical t-shirt for the field. Essentially, it's much more like a Combat Shirt light.

This is also due to the material mix: the body is like a classic t-shirt, while the sleeves and shoulders are made of thin, sturdy softshell. The latter is abrasion-resistant and water-repellent. The overall concept of the MKII Instructor Shirt LS is reminiscent of the Arc'teryx LEAF Chimera Shirt LS – HERE in the SPARTANAT Review.

With the t-shirt fabric, there's a "nipple alarm" when it gets colder. But the soft fabric doesn't rub, so no problem.

The softshell material is also nicely stretchy, so you can remain flexible.

And for those of us who like to roll up long sleeves, it works great here. But leaving them long is also functional.

The shirt has a classic crew neck. There are pockets and velcro on the upper arms. The side view also shows the material mix of the shirt well.

There's a modernly cut velcro patch field on the chest for name tapes. Since we work anonymously, we don't use it. But you can also attach a pen here.

Under each arm, there's a pocket. Here you can fit a smartphone, a small radio, a notebook, or even a snack to prevent you from getting cranky in an emergency.

The upper arms are traditionally designed with a pocket of suitable size. If you're wondering what a great patch that is – HERE you'll find out. Aren't we all pirates?

Another advantage of the LS Shirt from CLAW GEAR: it's long. So you can also tuck it into your pants without worrying about it slipping out.
