REVIEW: Claw Gear Milvago Fleece Jacket

11/19/2014By Redaktion

It's cold outside, even when the sun is shining. So, put on your jacket to avoid freezing. CLAW GEAR offers an excellent option in the jacket market with its new heavy fleece jacket. We snuggled up and tested the Milvago jacket.

milvago21Here is the Milvago in front and back view. Everything is kept very simple, but functional and well thought out. Sometimes it's good that there are no surprises, the Milvago is as classically designed as a fleece jacket can be.

milvago3The pockets, as you would expect from tactical jackets: One on the upper arm (left in the picture) and two on the stomach with a two-way zip. These pockets are very spacious.

milvago4On the inside, there is an outer belly pocket with cable routing. Between the belly pocket and the jacket, you can easily insert items from above, making it also qualify as an inner pocket. The inner fleece is very soft and fluffy, making the jacket particularly comfortable for those who like to snuggle. There is also an adjustment option on the inside of the hem to keep cold wind from getting in from below.

The hood is snugly cut and has no further adjustment options except for the drawstring. The drawstring is reminiscent of very classic sport hoodies. Why reinvent the wheel?

The fit of the jacket is sporty and snug. Our tester wears size M and the jacket is kept in this size, with an ideal fit.

CONCLUSION: The Milvago is convincing as a "stand alone" jacket in dry weather. It is also very useful as a liner under a soft or hard shell in really cold winter temperatures. The workmanship and selected material are very good, as expected from CLAW GEAR. A small drawback arises from the high heat performance of the fleece used: Due to the lack of ventilation openings under the arms to regulate the interior temperature, the Milvago is more suitable for static missions or normal hiking. If you move quickly with the jacket closed, it can get a bit warm and sweaty inside. But when cuddling through the winter in the Milvago, you don't need much movement...

Available at Armamat.at in Black, Coyote, Ral 7013, and Solid Rock for €99.90 excluding shipping

Yes, our tester finds the interior of the Milvago very cuddly!
