Being on the road for several days also means carrying more equipment. SPARTANAT shows you today one of the many ways to handle this problem in a stylish way, the "Motherlode." It is a "3-Day-Assault-Pack" from the company Camelbak, which is similar in design to its counterpart from "Eagle Industries."
However, the difference lies in many improved details. Among other things, in the design of the three compartments or in the side straps. There are only two on the left and right sides, but they are so long that you can easily attach a sleeping bag to them. At the bottom of the backpack (last image below), there are no extra straps, but loops are provided for them.
If the straps are not used for transportation, they can be tightened to compress the backpack. There are also no loose, overly long straps on the Motherlode, as the designers have come up with something here as well. The straps are equipped with Velcro closures. Another plus point is the detachable hip belt and the "Quick-Drop-System." When things get hectic and you need to move quickly, releasing 2 to 4 Fastex buckles will allow the backpack to slide down your back.
But what really sets Camelbak apart? Exactly, the hydration bladder or hydration system. This is stored between the back and the Motherlode, in a padded thermal compartment that accommodates the up to 6-liter bladder. Already integrated is a "Pack Frame," a rigid backplate that makes carrying comfortable.
The interior is also different from most competitors in the "3-Day-Assault" class, where often "only" simple, spartan compartments are preferred. Perhaps Camelbak goes a bit overboard here. For example, in the middle compartment, there are already "business-like" pen and mobile phone pockets sewn in. In the main compartment, there is an extra "mesh pocket" and a second compartment that can be closed with a rubber band. Ideal for small items that need to be accessed quickly, such as a rain cover.
Conclusion: For relatively little money, you get a top all-round product here. According to the manufacturer, the backpack holds 35.1 liters, more than enough for 36 hours of play. Excellent workmanship and the best quality are also guaranteed with Camelbak.
On Ebay, it has been seen for as low as €60. In general, Camelbak Motherlodes are sold for around €150. The Motherlode is available in Black, AT Digital, Coyote Brown, 3.col. Desert, Foliage Green, and Multicam.
