Pistol is fine. Rifle is better. Holding something that is 15 cm long on target, or something that is 50 cm long - that alone makes a huge difference in shooting. Pistol carbines are the middle ground between short and long weapon. In the video above, you can see the presentation of the CAA Micro Roni at IWA 2017. Here and now, we received our box and are unpacking it ... The packaging is very nice. There are several ways to acquire this pistol carbine. We opted for just the carbine (link) - without light, back up sights, sling, or transport box, those are added according to personal preference. There is also a Basic Kit (link) and an Advanced Kit (link) with different equipment.
Every beginning is an adapter, which is simply slid onto the Glock slide.
The weapon - attentive observers will note that this is only an Airsoft G19 for demonstration purposes - is then inserted into the open pistol carbine.
Push it in, then firmly press the lock of the pistol carbine. Then everything is secure. (The GBB is slightly over the tolerances, meaning it will fit in but won't function properly.)
The bracket for the pistol is secured at the back with a push button. When pressed, the latch can be easily pulled back, and the lock of the pistol carbine can be opened.
We particularly love the folding stock on the Micro Roni, making it small and compact. Here is the connection, once it locks, nothing wobbles. At the bottom of the body, you can see the edge of a QD opening. CAA assumes that the shooter will use a One-Point Sling with the Micro Roni.
Releasing the stock is also done with a push button. The full-length Micro Roni is anything but small. The extended stock increases the kit from 36 to 58 centimeters.
When shouldered, it looks like this.
On the right, the button is the barrel lock, so the slide can be fixed at the rear. The thumb rests on the safety wings that cover the trigger. The front pistol grip of the kit provides a good grip option - and holds a second magazine as a reserve.
The business end: the top opening is made of metal and wide enough for the bullet to pass easily. This muzzle is not part of the barrel. Below is the slot for a flashlight, CAA offers a matching model. There are rails on the right and left sides. The top also has continuous rails.
Reading material is also included. It richly explains all the possibilities.
CONCLUSION: The kit alone is great and appeals to us with its design and minimalism. We will now take the Micro Roni to the range and give it a try with 1,000 rounds of 9mm. We will report on the shooting test experience in the second part of the review.
For quick people, the CAA Micro Roni Kit is currently on sale at GEAR MANIACS until mid-May - with Boreblitz 9mm and Glock Gunsmith's Benchmat free - for 309 euros. The kit is available for either Glock 17/22/31 or Glock 19/23/32. HERE is the link to the offer at GEAR MANIACS.
