Knives with style have one thing above all: a unique style. And that's exactly the case with this one. The CDC TacOpsGear is a sharp piece from Böker, rebranded for a limited small edition. The original is the "Prymate" by Jesper Voxnæs - you can find more information about this successful knife designer HERE, whose taste and skill we personally appreciate.
Small, fixed blade: here you can see the extra logo and the serial number. In the hand, we have number 10/100.
TacOpsGear stands for Tactical Operations Gear and clearly shows the direction that Andreas Berger has been successfully following with his concept for years. Founded in Braunschweig in 2009, you can find their store, office, and warehouse since 2016 in the old Flak Barracks Am Exer in Wolfenbüttel. Until the 1990s, it was used by the English army, but today it's completely civilized and now houses Ostfalia University and numerous crafts businesses.
The charm of the old barracks is perfect for customers from the military, police, and other emergency services sectors. In addition to clothing, they sell "tactical nylon" in the form of bags and backpacks, as well as high-quality operational knives from various manufacturers, boots, and much more. Customers can also find a second "civilian" store at Breite Herzogstraße 3 in the heart of the city. Here, in addition to high-quality functional clothing, they offer many outdoor and hunting knives from Böker and their distribution partners.
The CDC TacOpsGear firmly in hand: For the CDC TacOpsGear, the PryMate by Jesper Voxnæs was chosen, which with its massive 7mm thick tang represents an extraordinary piece. The extreme stability of the PryMate benefits not only emergency forces who may need to pry open a crate or use the knife for other, usually classified as "abusive" applications. The blade is finished with a Black Stonewash finish, based on a PVDB coating that provides additional surface protection. Here are the technical details:
The little friend features 7mm steel, a delight to draw. A wonderfully finished feeling for a small blade. The proven N690 steel is used for the strongly hollow-ground blade. Also nice for the style: the orange spacer makes for a beautiful contrast.
The grip has two holes for weight reduction. As if that were necessary. The scales are made of green Micarta and fit wonderfully with the overall impression of the knife. "Modern primitives" comes to mind as a catchphrase. We like that.
But all together, of course, is by no means primitive, but perfectly crafted. The high-quality knife comes with a nice Kydex sheath with a good fit and a Tek-Lok, ideal for any belt and versatile in its adaptation.
The knife at home: Everything together in the box. It's begging to come out and belong in the great outdoors.
That's how the CDC TacOpsGear comes, in the classic Böker box.
Logo, the Böker logo is also included.
CONCLUSION: An exceptional knife in a small special edition as CDC TacOpsGear. We like the size and appearance. Perhaps a bit too chunky if you only want to slice an apple, but otherwise a small hand axe that can withstand tough use. And at the same time, a wonderful design with which the owner can underline their style when wearing this Voxnæs knife: Style!
