REVIEW: Blue Force Gear PLATEminus

What carries the plates is a plate carrier. Those who need or want a front and back SAPI due to the plates have a relatively fixed shape of plate carrier, which is functional and practical. Blue Force Gear (BFG) has reduced the plate carrier to the essentials with its PLATEminus. We at SPARTANAT take a look at this lightweight carrier for you, which is available in the new fashion color "Wolf Grey".

Plate in front (left), plate in back (right), all in grey. A kind of plate building, but a very modern one. The magic of the "minus" series from Blue Force Gear is that it aims to be slim, small, and efficient. This carrier, without its M size SAPIS, weighs just a slim 335 grams. Small, flat, slim - it should also be suitable for concealed carry.

The closure on the waist is remarkably simple: the strap can be tightened at the back, and clipped towards the front.

The inside of the plate pockets is made of grey-olive fabric (left). When you look at the PC more closely, you can see that it consists of two structures: the fabric plate pocket (top right) and in front of it, the carrying structure made of laser-cut plastic. It's called ULTRAcomp and is stronger than nylon. The underside is honest and classic: the Velcro flap (bottom right) comes from the front and goes into the pocket, securing the SAPI that way.

Everyone wants to look good, so it's good to know the fashion colors: Grey is currently very popular in gear. After various experiments with "urban" camouflage patterns, the idea that grey is a good camouflage color is coming back from several sides. And it also suits our taste: Arc'teryx with its "Wolf" color line (here's the review of the Naga Hoodie) and a TAD GEAR Force 10 Amphibian Pant in grey. Fits perfectly!

CONCLUSION: The PLATEminus is a compact plate carrier to fall in love with. Those who appreciate design will love its minimalism; those who value functionality will appreciate the Helium Whisper System from Blue Force Gear. MOLLE light has been extremely well done here. And the grey looks damn good.
