REVIEW: BEYOND Clutch Field Liner K3 Jacket

There are jackets that you either love or hate at first sight. This is one of those, and for us, it was love at first sight because this thing is so awesome: BEYOND has turned the good old liner for the M65 Parka into something super hip, the Clutch Field Liner K3 - wearable as a jacket, but also as an additional warming layer when you need a little extra.

This is how it looks when worn and closed. Sleeves slightly puffy, jacket snug and not too long. The collar is quite special...

It's the inner values that make this thing stand out, and BEYOND is a bit "woke" here: on the outside, it's 20-denier ripstop softshell with a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish, providing reliable standalone weather protection. Inside, there's PrimaLoft® Black Bio insulation with biodegradable* synthetic down made from 100% recycled material. No geese harmed in the process, yet it still provides excellent warmth retention. Good job.

Let's talk about the collar. You have to like it. We really do: With the cut, you could even take over a spaceship in Star Wars. It closes simply with the neck, very cool. The zipper has a nice zipper pull.

The sleeve is kept a bit roomier.

And on the right, there's a patch pocket with the BEYOND logo bar.

At the end of the sleeve, everything is simply edged and closes flexibly.

Inside and out, one is tempted to say, but on the outside, the material of the Clutch is matte, while inside it's shiny.

Then there are two spacious pockets.

And on the sides, there are zippers on the right and left. At first, we thought it was a tactical feature, maybe for a holster, but no, it's a gusset. You can wear the jacket looser or snugger. We prefer the second option.

Overall, it's not very long, but sufficient. When worn alone, Clutch is not very cold; when it gets really chilly, K3 is worn under another jacket.
