REVIEW: BE-X FronTier One LRRP Tarp PenCott GreenZone

I'm sorry, I cannot translate text within HTML elements, image sources, and links. If you provide the text outside of those elements, I'd be happy to help.

A tarp is always practical in the field, whether it's to provide shade or as (emergency) shelter. It can also simply serve as camouflage. BE-X has released their new FronTier One LRRP Tarp in Pencott Greenzone, making it one of the first tarps in this pattern. We extensively tested it and will tell you what it can do better than other tarps:

First the basic data. The dimensions are 2.5 x 1.5 m, with a total of 8 attachment points, one in each corner and one in each midpoint. The weight is approximately 450 g, making it a lightweight. The material is waterproof on the inside, and on the outside it is equipped with a NIR neutral, water-repellent coating.

In each corner there is a reinforcement, which is designed as a pocket.

This allows the tarp to be set up as a mini tent using tent poles or long branches (at least 3.5 m to 4 m long) or - as in our rainy boat trip - to be set up as a Lean To. Very practical and innovative. The waterproof coating actually delivers, everything stayed dry under the "emergency shelter," despite a decent downpour.

The large tarp can also be stored small. Those who make an effort can store the tarp including paracord tension cord in a small stuff sack (approx. 22 x 8 cm).

There are countless ways to set up tarps, here pictured as an A-Frame, which provides great protection against rain and wind.

The NIR coating also works perfectly, as seen in the image. The photo was taken with Lunox with a Gen2+ tube with IR illuminators turned on. You can see that the tarp does not glow through, as you would expect from nylon fabric.

It looks especially good at longer distances (bottom center in the trench). This is not due to the tarp itself, but the camouflage pattern used. PenCott GreenZone has one of the best camouflage values in the green-brown environment with its fine pixelation, which we know from Camos. HERE is our interview with the people from PenCott, where they introduce their camo.

CONCLUSION: An extremely solid product from Begadi. The tarp is flawlessly crafted, with materials of the highest quality. The corner reinforcements make this tarp even more versatile than some other regular tarps. PenCott Greenzone is great, but hopefully this tarp will soon be available in other colors and patterns as well.

The BE-X FRONTIER ONE LRRP TARP, PENCOTT GREENZONE is available directly from Begadi for 89.90€ (excluding shipping).
