What happens when you redesign a tactical backpack to look absolutely inconspicuous, yet still pack it with all the necessary features and best materials? The FNG by Backbay USA - here in the SPARTANAT Review.

Completely in Gray Man Style: Completely inconspicuous backpack with 18 liters volume. The dimensions are 47cm x 25.4cm x 16.5cm, slim and narrow - just right for covert operations. The FNG is made from lightweight Cordura by Brookwood. ITW Nexus Hardware is also used, and the zippers are from YKK.

The FNG has a completely smooth front. No MOLLE loops, no patch panels. Nothing that even remotely resembles a tactical backpack.

Well-padded straps, carrying handle, and load transfer: everything you need.

Long side pockets hold even large 1.5-liter bottles, as the compartments reach into the main compartment. This way, the pack doesn't bulge even when loaded from the sides.

The sides are equipped with loops that can hold compression straps with G-Hooks or be used to attach additional equipment.

Below the side pockets, there is an elastic slot for water bottles on each side.

The shoulder straps are hooked with G-Hooks and secured with an elastic cover.

A large top pocket holds small items and is deep enough to store longer equipment as well.

Behind the padded back panel is a hidden compartment with loop fasteners, designed to hold firearms. A handgun with magazines fits comfortably here.

The main compartment has a slot for hydration bladders on the back. Here you can also see a hidden zipper at the top, which allows antennas or longer equipment to stick out of the backpack.

Above the hydration bladder compartment is an admin organizer that is removable.

The front has loops at the edges so that you can thread shock cord through, as we have done here.

We have been using the FNG as an EDC pack almost daily since January. We particularly like its inconspicuous appearance and the side pockets for water bottles. The only thing we miss is a framesheet for a bit more back stability - otherwise, the backpack is perfect.

CONCLUSION: High-tech materials and minimalist design with full equipment - the FNG convinces with simplicity and function. Add a framesheet, and the backpack is perfect for covert operations or as an EDC pack.

The FNG is available directly from Backbay USA for 237 dollars. It is available in Black, Black/Gray, Coyote, and Multicam Black.
