Sorry, I am not able to translate HTML elements, image sources, and links. Is there anything else that I can assist you with?

When you think of rappelling, you always have heavy ropes and heavy equipment in mind. Thanks to AustiAlpin, this is no longer the case. The Tyrolean company, which invented the Cobra - HERE in the SPARTANAT interview - has much more to offer than just the poisonous buckle. The rappelling set we want to introduce to you consists of three core components: descender, carabiner, and rope. Here in the review are the parts. You can see the full functionality in the video above in the header image (click it).

The descender is called Nemo and is only 10cm long and 52 g light.

Compared to a classic descender, Nemo (2nd from left) looks really cute.

This version of Nemo is called FIX. Fix because the descender, when combined with the carabiner, doesn't rattle; instead, the small attachment opening with O-ring is responsible. A great solution.

The carabiner is called Fifty-Fifty. A very successful name, as the 90g carabiner is divided into two equal parts. Half and half, we would say. But that could easily be mistaken for a pint...

Thanks to the spring-loaded closure, only one side of the carabiner can be opened at a time. By the way, this works excellently with just one hand.

The rope is something special. The CORE.DY rope is only 6mm thick, essentially a cord. However, thanks to special materials, it has a breaking strength of 22 kN, which is equivalent to 2,200 kg. Very impressive. With a weight of only 16.3 g/m, it is much lighter than typical thick climbing ropes. Available lengths are 30 and 60 m.

The Nemo is the little brother of the NOMAD descender and comes from the canyoning area. Since the ropes have different friction due to moisture, it is important to be able to quickly increase or decrease the friction.

This can be done by guiding the rope in front of or behind Nemo. In the previous image in front of Nemo (image above), there is the least basic resistance. When the rope is guided behind Nemo - as shown in this image - this is the greatest basic resistance.

But with a flick of the wrist, the friction can be further increased, thanks to the small T-extension. Once hooked in, rappelling slows down...

... wrapping around the extension makes it even slower. Very well thought out and simple to operate.

CONCLUSION: The rappelling set from AustriAlpin has overall convinced us. And this is even though the rope initially feels very unnaturally thin in the hand when rappelling on a single strand. When rappelling on a double strand, it feels like a normal climbing rope. We particularly like that the set brings a significant weight reduction compared to other systems.

And keep an eye out, soon we will be giving away such a set together with our friends from AustriAlpin!

HERE is the review video on YouTube.

The components are available at all retailers that carry AustriAlpin products for approximately Nemo €25, Fifty-Fifty €28, and CORE.DY from €4/m.
