REVIEW: ASP Scarab Cutter

03/15/2014By Redaktion

Always the same problem: There's the guy who was just arrested and restrained with cable ties. And now you have to release him. Cutting the disposable restraints with a pocket knife or multitool works, too. It's not ideal, though: the ASP Scarab is a small special cutter that comes from law enforcement and handles the tactical task with aplomb.

In the first picture you see it folded, it resembles somewhat the shape of a scarab beetle, hence the English name. Pulling on the two handles unfolds the cutter and at the top end is the blade, concealed by the loop with the ASP logo. With it, you can safely and reliably cut Tri-Fold disposable handcuffs - without scratching the customer's skin.

Normally, the Scarab is black, the one shown here has been painted with an AOR1 camouflage. And on the back there is Velcro, so you can stick it to the chest on a plate carrier if there is Velcro there as well. DEVGRU has already been seen using the Scarab in action.

CONCLUSION: A small, compact cutter for releasing Tri-Fold disposable handcuffs, coming from law enforcement.

You can find the ASP Scarab at BLACK SHADOW for 32.25 euros.
