REVIEW: Arc'teryx Talos Halfshell

When going to the shooting range - whether it's actually a shooting range or a whole area in the wide world - you need the appropriate clothing. From Arc’teryx LEAF comes a halfshell designed to be worn under a plate carrier. We took a look at the Arc’teryx Talos Halfshell in Multicam.

Looking at this image, you notice that something isn't right. Weren't those long sleeves just a moment ago? That's right, that's the special feature of the halfshell. It can be converted into a short-sleeve version with the help of zippers and a velcro cuff.

To do this, unbutton the cuffs, open the zipper, and then slip your arm out of the sleeve.

Now stuff the excess material under the sleeve pocket and the long-sleeve shirt is now short-sleeved.

The body of the Arc’teryx Talos Halfshell consists of two different fabrics: The body feels soft like a t-shirt and is made of 60/40 NYCO. The arms and shoulders are made of a tougher NYCO with ripstop and are supposed to be abrasion-resistant. This is good because the plate carrier with all its weight rests on the shoulders.

CONCLUSION: The Arc’teryx Talos Halfshell is a clever combat shirt that convinces with its cut and material. It is comfortable to wear and functionally executed. It is the small details that convince. As usual with Arc’teryx, the price is on the higher side. But you don't treat yourself to anything else...
