Softshells can sometimes be too soft, while hardshells can be too hard. Some have a less durable outer skin, while others use good laminate, which works especially well in bad weather. However, our favorite softshell is somewhere in the middle, even though we have already revealed that it is actually classified as one of the "soft" models. It is the Arc'teryx LEAF Combat Jacket Men, which was recently taken out of the Arc'teryx LEAF program.

Inside there is fleece, so it's nice and warm around the neck when zipped up.

At the bottom of the jacket, the Arc'teryx LEAF logo is stitched through - single-layer thin material. There is a mesh pocket sewn in on the right and left side of the jacket. And you can also see the elastic drawstring to tighten the jacket at the bottom.

At the end of the sleeves, there is a Velcro strap for closure.

At the collar in the back of the neck, there is a small Velcro area, perfect for IR tabs for example, when hiking in a group with night vision goggles.

CONCLUSION: Keep it simple! Arc'teryx LEAF delivers a durable softshell with the Combat Jacket, which can be worn as an additional layer and withstands a lot. Backpacks over it, plate carriers or where it rubs. This is operational clothing. Unfortunately, the parent company has taken the jacket out of the lineup. As a successor model, you probably have to look at the Patrol Jacket AR.
