REVIEW: Arc'teryx LEAF H150 Riggers Belt

06/29/2013By Redaktion

If you're going to tighten your belly, do it properly. And since the modern man likes to wear decent gear, the Arc'teryx LEAF H150 Riggers Belt caught our attention. Slim, light, and from a quality manufacturer, this Riggers Belt has its appeal. (Click on the pictures to enlarge.)

Arcteryx H150_2The Canadians excel in using innovative materials. They do so here too, with the Warp Strength Technology. This makes the interior of the H150 particularly stable. The result is a very slim and light belt, but sturdy enough to carry a holster, for example. At the same time, there is a securely sewn fabric loop where a carabiner can be attached, to secure oneself with a lanyard. The rigging part of this belt, so to speak. Otherwise, the belt is just a belt.

Arcteryx H150_3And that's the story behind this unusual-looking belt, which was initially a climbing harness. Remnants of that are visible on the H150 in two small loops, but they cannot withstand any load (it specifically says "0 kN", meaning "Zero Kilonewton"). The belt evolved from the cut climbing harness, covered with a fine Multicam cover (or a differently colored cover) to prevent it from cutting the fabric with its sharp interior.

CONCLUSION: A good belt that is comfortable to wear. However, when it comes to holsters, it's a bit tricky. Most holsters fit well on this belt. Our Kydex holster with narrow loops did not like it. We find the strap for fastening at the front of the belt a bit too long, it goes halfway around our body. At the same time, it is sewn into a fixed end knob to create a loop. This is not quite comfortable if you wanted to wear a Duty Belt over the H150. But Arc'teryx probably doesn't expect you to wear anything other than Arc'teryx, and be perfectly content. Which you can also be… As usual with Arc'teryx LEAF, the belt carries a hefty price tag, in line with the brand's Canadian pricing policy.

You can get the Arc'teryx LEAF H150 Riggers Belt at TACWRK in Berlin in various colors from Multicam to Black for around 110 Euros (excluding shipping).
