In the review of the TILO-3Z, the helmet mount for the world's smallest thermal goggle from Andres Industries was already shown. Today you will learn more details about it.

To be able to use the TILO-3 with the helmet or head mount, a small adapter plate must be screwed on. The necessary screws and Allen key are included. This adapter plate is made of very durable plastic, just like the mount itself.

Attaching the TILO-3 to the mount is simple. Just slide it on and let the locking pin snap into place. At first, this was very tight, but it got better over time. To remove the TILO-3 from the mount, press the release lever down firmly and pull out the thermal imaging goggles.

The helmet mount itself is reminiscent of the installation of the Surefire Helmetlight. For those of you who are not familiar, here is a brief description: The mount consists of the base plate and a metal clamp. This clamp is slid over the edge of the helmet. The base plate is then fixed to it with two screws and the whole system is tightened. Holds very stable. Unfortunately, the metal clamp only fits on ballistic helmets with a shell thickness of about 1 cm. This mounting is not suitable for thinner bump helmets.

Once everything is securely tightened, the TILO-3 can be folded up and stowed away with one hand. This can be seen in the video at the beginning of the article.

For those who do not want to wear a helmet but still want to have the TILO-3 in front of their eyes, there is this head mount. This is a standard GoPro headband with the adapter arm for the TILO-3.

The headband must be worn slightly diagonally to look through the left eye. If worn in the center, the TILO-3 can be viewed with the right eye, but the field of view of the left eye suffers.

The head mount is very interesting because it is compatible with all GoPro mounts. Thus, they can also be used. Our friend Ronin Tactical played around with it and came up with two very practical solutions. One with the GoPro NVG mount, shown at the top in the picture,…

…and one with the standard GoPro mount for helmets. A very exciting solution, especially for those of you who want to use their TILO-3 on a bump or ballistic helmet.

CONCLUSION: The mounts make the TILO-3 a very good tool for detecting heat sources. Those who enjoy tinkering can maximize the potential of the TILO-3 with some GoPro accessories.

Here are the specifications of the various military and civilian versions of the TILO-3 listed again.Everything is available directly at Andres Industries, although the accessories are not listed separately.
