Summer is always a special time when you don't like to wear heavy shoes. ALTAMA has a more than practical alternative for this, their shoes originally designed for Over The Beach (OTB) operations - as rock boots for divers and maritime special forces - have made a big splash in the scene like a water bomb. Fortunately, now there are also the Urban Assaults available in Germany at TACTICAL PROTECTION GEAR.

No, they are not the same. Remember: the difference between Amphibian and Urban is mainly the water. The latter should only be worn on land.

The Amphibian feels extremely comfortable in the transition zone. HERE is the review of the ALTAMAT OTB Maritime Assault Mid and HERE the review of the ALTAMA OTB Maritime Assault Low for you.

Here we see the most noticeable difference between Amphibian and Urban. The former has an outer skin made of Cordura, the latter - well - it's somehow knitted.

"Mid" means ankle-high here. Here again is a comparison with an Urban (left) and the Amphibian (right). They look very similar, but feel completely different. Especially the high Amphibian suffers a bit from heat buildup. It is designed as a sturdy shoe for OTB missions in water and land. If worn only on land, it can cause sweaty feet quickly, as per our experience.

After some time, we rejected the Amphibian Mid - Low is more comfortable due to a smaller contact area - and were extremely excited about the city and land-capable version, which has recently landed. And we are very happy: ALTAMA listened to its customers and delivers a shoe that is really great for everyday wear, especially now in the height of summer with good temperature management.

The first question asked nervously: is it cut the same as the Amphibian? Yes, it is. So, if you want a good fit, go for a larger size, then it's ideal.

How much has changed? Well, not much. The lining is, in our opinion, still the same.

However, the insole is now a typical one that wears well. The Amphibian had rubber wedges that worked well with neoprene socks and the sea, but not with a summer foot, so you had to swap them immediately. Now it fits, the Urban stays as it is.

On the shoe tongue, the day of ALTAMA.

The high lacing ensures a secure fit. For those who want their Urbans in Multicam Black to be perfect, HERE you can get the laces in Multicam Black as an extra.

A sturdy cap prevents toe stubs, this one is securely made.

And the side ventilation opening now looks different too, as it no longer has the function of draining water.

Multicam Black now looks a bit as if grandma knitted the camouflage pattern. But you quickly get used to the look, and the shoe not only looks good with it, but the material also ensures the necessary foot ventilation.
