Who hasn't always wanted to have robotic knees? With the Axis Knee Pads from Agilite, you are much closer to this wish. But now, joking aside. We have thoroughly tested these somewhat strange-looking knee covers and want to share our experiences with you:
The Axis Knee Pads are roughly made up of two interconnected parts made of sturdy polyethylene. The lower part features an anti-slip surface with the Agilite logo of a scorpion.
Inside, you only find the padding. But it is this padding that makes this protector special.
It consists of about 1.5mm thick PVA memory foam, making these knee pads some of the most comfortable we have ever worn. You could even kneel on tiles and lay them…
The attachment is done in a classic way using straps. These are made of elastic bands.
The straps are hooked in using a special hook. This hook is easy to use even with gloves. If one happens to break, a replacement hook is already included in the delivery. Well thought out, Agilite.
What is truly special about this knee protector, apart from its tendency to be ugly, is the absolute comfort and the very large protective area. Even while marching, this piece stays where it should, which is on the knee.
It is possible with other protectors as well, but usually only if you almost strangle your leg with the straps. Here, the straps can be tightened more loosely and everything holds in place. All in all, a "keep-it-simple" construction that works.
View of the rubber padding with the Agilite logo. Thanks to the movable connection, which aligns pretty closely with the knee joint axis, the Axis protector does not hinder when kneeling, climbing, or running. With classic protectors, you usually feel some pressure at least.
The Axis knee protector does not stop just above the knee, but extends to the lower third of the thigh. Here is where the upper strap is located, which has a very practical effect.
Everyone surely knows the feeling when the upper strap cuts into the back of the knee and rubs after wearing it for a long time. This never happened to us with this protector, no matter how much we moved. By the way, in the main image above you can see the video about the Agilite Axis. Success proves Agilite right: The Axis Knee Pads were not chosen as the IDF's standard protector for nothing. By the way, if you want to know more about Agilite, HERE is our Agilite interview on SPARTANAT to be read.
CONCLUSION: For anyone who wishes to look like Robocop, the Axis Knee Pads are a good purchase. And of course, for anyone who wants knee protectors that really work - also in amphibious operations. The developers have really followed the principle "Form follows Function" here, resulting in the best and most unique-looking knee protector we have used so far. But as Mom always said, it's what's on the inside that counts.
Available, among other places, directly at Agilite for $31.95 excluding shipping in OD, Black, and FDE
