REVIEW: 5.11 Tactical XPRT® 3.0 Waterproof 6" Boot

Out into the Botanical Garden and the boots on your feet. Since the footwear is what directly connects you to your environment, its quality is extremely important. We are not usually big fans of American footwear. This may be because we grew up in a mountainous region, where you know what to wear when heading up to the alpine meadows and peaks. But good shoes can also be useful in the valley. We have taken a look at the new XPRT® 3.0 Waterproof 6" Boot from 5.11 Tactical for you.

In terms of shape, this is a sturdy boot with a high shaft. The 5.11 Tactical XPRT® 3.0 comes in two colors: black for city and authority lovers. This particular one is called "Dark Coyote" and color-wise matches very well with what we usually wear.

The shoe laces up. Apart from two pairs of metal eyelets in the top area, there are fabric loops that guide the laces. The whole thing spans over an exposed tongue. Tightening while putting them on is very easy.

We have closed one of the nicest loops we have ever made. The loop on the tongue helps you to easily pull the tongue up when closing it so that it is always in the right position. Which ultimately is important when you are moving.

The shaft and tongue form a kind of circle that surrounds your foot and gives it a high support. The tongue on the 5.11 Tactical XPRT® 3.0 is quite pronounced. The classic method of really tightening it led us to the edges of the tongue pressing against the sides of the shoe. We initially thought that we had too narrow feet for this shoe. Then we loosened the laces. The shoe still fits well, and the problem was solved.

The shaft slopes down to the back. This wouldn't have been necessary. At this height, a straight finish would have been more appealing, it does not affect the flexibility. There are loops at the back of the shaft to help pull the boot on. Of course, you can also run the straps through here to secure the boot.

Six inches make for a 15.24 cm high shaft. This is pretty much what we like in a tactical boot. Good and solid support is provided, ankles are protected.

For a new leather shoe, the 5.11 Tactical XPRT® 3.0 is surprisingly soft. Especially when you bend sideways, you can see how the leather moves with you.

The heel of the shoe is reinforced with Kevlar. This gives the foot a secure fit and also protects it when you need to really dig your heels in.

The pronounced sole is from Vibram and provides a non-slip and good grip.

And you leave clear marks on the environment with it.

This ensures that you stay dry: looking inside the shoe, you can clearly see the height of the integrated laminate in the shaft.

And an insole from Ortolite ensures that you always walk comfortably.
