If you don't own a Glock 17 or Sig Sauer P226, it's often difficult in Germany to find a suitable Kydex holster. And if you want a special color on top of that, things get even more complicated. Then, with these custom holsters, the ordering process is quite complicated, as you have to go through the details with the manufacturer. 1441Gear is a small Kydex forge in the USA, which sells its products on Ebay for a very good price - including shipping and customs.
We were looking for a Kydex holster for a Sig Pro SP2022, the French police service weapon. After the usual searches on the internet, we eventually ended up on Ebay and found a manufacturer offering a suitable holster. Since the seller participates in Ebay's global shipping program, the shipping price is quite reasonable and customs clearance is included. So we quickly added the holster and a matching magazine pouch to the shopping cart.
Details of the order:
Type: Pancake (a flat holster, suitable for concealed carry)
Color: Coyote Brown
Draw angle for the holster: 0 degrees
Belt loops: Riggersbelt
Any details that couldn't be specified during the purchase were communicated via email. For example, the color of the magazine pouch wasn't freely selectable through the purchasing system.
Total price for the package: $76 for the items, $11 for shipping, and $21 for customs, making a total of $108 - just under €100 - a really fair price!
Two weeks later, the package arrived. The initial impression: incredibly detailed and clean work. Unfortunately, there were two things to criticize: the magazine pouch wasn't Coyote Brown, and the belt loops were slightly too small for the Riggersbelt. Since the belt loops are made of thick Kydex, that wasn't a problem - they were simply unscrewed, heated in the oven, and widened a bit to fit.
Regarding the wrong color, the seller was contacted, who promptly responded and apologized for the mistake. Since the effort to return the item was too high, we directly ordered another magazine pouch, which we had to pay for, but we were only charged half the price. A misunderstanding, but luckily only a small one and not a big problem.
After this brief excursion, the holster, along with the firearm and magazines, was tested at the shooting range. Here, it was found that the holsters from 1441Gear fit absolutely perfectly, both on the body and in terms of the firearm's fit. The slightly curved shape of the holster hugs the body and is almost invisible under a shirt, making it perfect for concealed carry.
The draw resistance can be adjusted using a screw, but it comes from the factory perfectly set with just the right amount of resistance to securely hold the firearm, yet allow for easy drawing. The raised lip on the body side of the holster also makes holstering a breeze.
Similarly, the magazine pouch receives high praise. Again, perfect retention, seamless drawing and reholstering - draw resistance adjustable by a screw. The magazine pouch is not curved and therefore protrudes slightly, but a heat gun thanks to Kydex can provide a solution. The magazine pouches are available as double and single versions, for one or two magazines.

CONCLUSION: Despite some minor discrepancies in our order, 1441Gear can be highly recommended - an absolutely fantastic price for a perfectly crafted Kydex holster. Some may criticize the Kydex belt loops, but with the choice of particularly thick Kydex for the loops, we see no concerns regarding durability. Whether for concealed carry or as a regular holster, "The Original" meets all requirements.
