ATLAS drones are modern tools of warfare on the front lines, military units utilize them to find enemy positions and stream video showing the results of an attack back to the command center in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
AtlasPRO stands out particularly for its ability to counter Electronic Warfare (EW) complexes and operate effectively in no-GPS environments.
The AtlasPRO drone has garnered attention for its robust design and sophisticated software-defined radio (SDR) module, which plays a pivotal role in its resilience against EW systems. Equipped with advanced frequency hopping technology, AtlasPRO can swiftly adapt to various radio frequencies, ensuring stable communication channels even in the presence of jamming attempts.
Atlas UAS from Latvia has been delivering their products to Ukraine´s armed forces from the very beginning of the invasion. The experiences made in battle and the lessons learned in the ongoing struggle with the russian invaders and their enhanced electronic warfare capabilities showed the need for robust drones able to operate under this challenges.
We have spoken with a Ukrainian soldier named Artem who shared his experience using the AtlasPRO in the Donetsk region.
Could you share your experience of AtlasPRO using in field conditions, please?
The drone has been a reliable companion in our missions despite the challenging conditions. It has helped us gather crucial intelligence and maintain situational awareness on the front lines.
What do you think about the performance of the AtlasPRO drone?
The Atlas complex has its own specific equipment and requires a special type of connection, but it has a different application from other drones and the increased deployment time does not specifically affect its performance in completing the task.
What are some advantages of the AtlasPRO in a combat environment?
The Atlas system is unique in terms of execution and has shown good results during operation in the combat zone. From experience, this drone could be used in very difficult conditions for other drones. A wide range of frequencies allows military missions with the correct settings, to maintain a stable connection with the ground station.
Are there improvements you would make on Atlas – what could be done better?
The drone's robust signal stability comes with trade-offs, particularly in data transmission and processing efficiency. The encryption and decryption of its data channels demand significant computational resources, limiting channel width and impacting real-time image processing at ground stations.
How does the AtlasPRO drone manage to stay effective against Electronic Warfare (EW) systems?
In general, any drone can be easily silenced by several sources of electromagnetic radiation at the same time, but the working frequency range of the Atlas reduces the chances of encountering a sufficient number of effective interferences when it is used wisely.
Atlas UAS enhances the robustness of its product – can you tell me something about this capability.
The best drones for operators are drones that are constantly modified by the manufacturer for specific tasks, because war is dynamic and needs to be constantly adapted to. Therefore, a good example of the development of the complex is its modification based on user feedback.
What is the significance of the AtlasPRO’s infrastructure flexibility?
In case of damage to the line between the relay and the ground station (which is quite possible and often happens), it is not difficult to find a new patch cord and continue working.
At ENFORECE TAC 2025 you can find ATLAS AEROSPACE SIA in Hall 7 Booth 7-604.
