Wheels must roll: 342 roll-off tippers for the Bundeswehr

11/19/2020By Redaktion

Rheinmetall has started serial delivery of 342 roll-off tipper vehicles to BwFuhrparkSERVICE GmbH (BwFPS). Recently, the first 69 logistics vehicles were handed over, with up to eight more trucks expected to follow each week. Rheinmetall is making another important contribution to the operational readiness of the Bundeswehr by delivering the TGS 8x4 trucks with hook loaders. The order, which was awarded at the end of 2019, is the largest order Rheinmetall has received in the "White Fleet" civilian truck sector with a volume in the mid-double-digit million range. Delivery is expected to be completed by the middle of next year. With this order, Rheinmetall and its truck specialist Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) have not only strengthened their existing business with state-of-the-art military vehicles but have also established a sustainable presence in the civilian vehicle segment for the Bundeswehr.

With the arrival of serial vehicles, the Bundeswehr will be able to carry out extensive rapid deployments of material under the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) 2023 framework with its own logistics vehicles. The delivery of TGS trucks therefore represents a significant expansion of logistical capabilities in terms of rapid material handling. The vehicles will be stationed throughout Germany, with a focus on logistics units. More information on Rheinmetall's military commercial vehicles.

Deepening an already strong partnership with this order is exemplified by an award: RMMV won the Delivery Reliability Award from BwFPS for the first time this year. The Rheinmetall-led joint venture took first place in the category of utility and special vehicles for joint projects in the previous year. Key criteria for winning first place included timely delivery and transparent communication with the customer in ongoing projects. BwFPS is the mobility service provider for the Bundeswehr and is 75.1% owned by the German Ministry of Defense, with the remaining 24.9% held by Deutsche Bahn.
