Explosive attacks are an increasingly common form of terrorism - pictured above: a letter bomb. For personal protectors, knowledge of this threat is therefore essential. Jan Pfefferkorn - operator of the LICTORA training center - will teach "hands on" about "USBVs" and how to protect against them at this year's PROTECT AND PREVENT. There are still some spots available for the personal protection conference from July 14th to 16th - HERE all information and registration options for the event.

SPARTANAT: What is your planned topic for the personal protection conference?

Jan Pfefferkorn: I will present Unconventional Explosive Devices and Incendiary Devices, known as "USBVs," and the dangers they pose. There are realistic models that illustrate their construction and operation. And the concealment of USBVs, which makes them even more dangerous as explosive traps.

In the second part, we will play out the scenario of a last, blocked escape route. Especially considering recent events, some simple and effective rescue and evacuation options will be shown here. Practical exercises will be carried out at this station. A very new rescue device will also be presented at this point - and can be extensively tested.SPARTANAT: How did you get into this and what do you want to convey?

Jan Pfefferkorn: I have been dealing with explosive traps for a long time. I first came into contact with this subject during my time with the NVA, as an instructor at a military school in Prora on Rügen. These knowledge and skills were further solidified and developed during my training as a command leader in personal protection and my activities in a military police command.

For years, I have been training security professionals in the private sector. Here, too, I am happy to pass on my knowledge on this subject. An extensive collection of IEDs greatly enriches the training here.

Every personal protector has gone through the USBV topic. But also - and especially here - it is important to stay up to date. Sensitizing course participants to this danger is important to me.

SPARTANAT: What are you currently focusing on?

Jan Pfefferkorn: For over 7 years, I have been running a private school for training and further education of security professionals in Bad Ems (Rhineland-Palatinate). From basic training in the security industry to qualified personal protection training, we can cover everything in our training center. At the end of the training, we successfully place our participants in the appropriate jobs.

In addition to a large network and a lot of know-how, we have attractive locations for training. From a former barracks to a grand hotel and a theater hall, we have extensive and attractive training facilities available.

The outdoor, team, and survival training area is becoming another key focus. Through a good concept - also in connection with the security school - attractive opportunities arise here.

SPARTANAT: The most important thing you have learned in your working life (about yourself)?

Jan Pfefferkorn: "All that glitters is not gold" and "Clothes make the man" - in the security sector, this is a very important issue.

SPARTANAT: Your own topics that you would like to convey?

Jan Pfefferkorn: Without a solid education as well as continuous further education, awareness, camaraderie, and teamwork, one can quickly fall behind in the security service. There are enough "bluffers" and wannabe security staff in our industry who simply become a danger to their environment.

The image of the security staff in the public eye needs an update. The changes that have taken place in the security industry in recent years should also be publicized and represented accordingly.
